BEFORE CONTACTING CGS FOR SUPPORT

What you should know before contacting CGS for technical software support:

BEFORE calling CGS

  1. Validate that you are running the most recent version of CGS software

    Go to CGS Main Menu and click "about" and check it against the version listed on URL page: www.computergolf.com/New_CGS/Downloads/htm_down.htm

    - This screen displays what version of the software you are running.

    - If you are running the most recent version continue to step 3, otherwise go to Download page and download and install most recent version. 

  2. Test software to see if error continues.

  3. Activate  'Remote Access'

    - PC Anywhere (HOST WAITING mode)

    1. Using IP (Have address)

    2. Using Dialup (Have phone #)

    - Terminal Services

  4. Secure CGS written log for recording proceedings 

    - CGS operations manual

    - Review last incidents recorded

  5. Assemble workstation able to run application program causing problem.

  6. Have available a phone near computer to contact CGS support personnel.

  7. Know the following information: 

    1. PASSWORDS

    2. Local IT person responsible for hardware.

    3. ISP

    4. Virus control method

    5. Firewall method

DURING "The Call"

  1. Record proceedings: noting file locations, CGS support person's name and time of call.

  2. Obtain an incident case # from assisting CGS personnel.

AFTER "The Call"

  1. Secure the "LOG" in a retrievable location.
